TJX recently introduced the Marshalls brand to Canada, launching its first stores in the Toronto area in the spring of 2011. Marshalls expects to open a total of six stores in Canada during its first year of operation.
Marshalls, a leading off-price retailer in the United States, well-known for brand names at prices well below department and specialty store regular prices, offers TJX another growth vehicle in Canada. Marshalls in Canada offers customers brand-name women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, including a large, family footwear department featuring designer and brand names and a high energy boutique for juniors and young women called ‘The Cube.’
Canada has been a very successful market for TJX since it first entered the country in 1990 with Winners. Adding Marshalls to our Canadian business portfolio is another example of TJX’s international expansion. TJX is one of the very few American retailers to have expanded profitably internationally. In April 2011, Marshalls joined Winners and HomeSense and became part of TJX Canada.
TJX Canada believes that in the long term, the Canadian provinces can support 90 - 100 Marshalls stores.
