We know that successful off-price merchandising requires a unique set of skills, so we offer the TJX Merchandising Development Program, which we believe is one of the best and most respected training programs in the retail industry. Our program was specifically designed – and is continually updated – to help develop the leadership skills of savvy, passionate, business-minded Associates.
Our Merchandising Development Program is offered in the U.S., Canada and Europe and provides a structured career path and the potential for growth in Merchandise Planning and Allocation, Merchandise Buying and possibly Management. The program consists of an initial, intensive training program. Afterwards, there are ongoing training opportunities and mentoring throughout your career. It's a unique chance to learn about the world of merchandising in a corporate setting where there are opportunities for growth. And, because we are a global retailer, there may also be opportunities available to travel or work internationally as your career in merchandising progresses.
MDP Associates are entrepreneurial, capable of analyzing and strategizing and willing to take intelligent risks. Effective negotiation and relationship building skills are essential. Most importantly, they need to understand and internalize how we define value.
At TJX, we invest meaningful time, talent and resources in our Merchandising Development Program and we are committed, at the highest levels, to teaching and training our next generation of leaders. In fact, most of our division Presidents and Senior Executives participated in some or all of the Merchandising Development Program modules during their tenure with the Company, and many of our current leaders teach classes and mentor Associates in the program today.
If you are interested in Planning and Allocation, Buying, and Management, our Merchandising Development Program provides guidance so that you have the opportunity to be successful at TJX.
