TJX participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for a second time in 2011. TJX’s disclosure score in 2011 was 82 out of 100, 20 points above the average for the S&P 500 and 24 points above the average for our sector.1
In 2011, TJX stated publicly for the first time its target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on a worldwide basis relative to our revenue growth by 2013.
TJX is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s logistics optimization program, SmartWay. In 2011, TJX allocated approximately 94% of its monies spent on transportation to SmartWay certified carriers.
TJX Europe’s new, environmentally friendly processing center in Bergheim, Germany, received a Silver Award from the German Society for Sustainable Building, recognizing sustainable building practices including geothermal heating and solar energy sources on site.
