TJX Achieves Goal to Hire at Least 3,000 U.S. Veterans

Respect, integrity and loyalty. These are core values servicemen and servicewomen live by every day, and values that have long been part of the culture that makes TJX a special place to work.

For more than 25 years, we have been committed to supporting organizations that assist military members, veterans and their families. But nowhere is our support more apparent than in our pledge to hire more veterans and in the recruitment efforts we've put in place to meet and exceed this goal.

In 2013, TJX joined other U.S. companies on Capitol Hill and pledged to hire at least 3,000 additional veterans by 2018. We are very pleased to announce that we have met that goal, having welcomed approximately 3,500 veterans into the TJX family as of 2016. We are confident that we can now achieve the high end of our goal: hiring 5,000 veterans by 2018.

A large and experienced talent pool

Members of the military often possess a strong work ethic, professionalism, loyalty, and diverse skills and experience - all qualities that are valued at TJX. We've found opportunities for servicemen and servicewomen across our organization, whether it be in Loss Prevention, IT, Finance, our Distribution Centers, or elsewhere in the Company.

Through employment outreach efforts and a variety of recruitment initiatives, including focused career fairs, targeted communications using email and social media, and recruitment training materials, our Talent Acquisition team has focused on promoting TJX as an Employer of Choice to the U.S. Armed Forces. We work with our hiring managers to help them better understand military occupations and culture, as well as the challenges veterans face when seeking employment. With that, we can help our new Associates translate their skills into a career at TJX.

"My seven years' active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps provided me with a set of transferable skills that have helped develop my career at TJX, such as leadership abilities, advanced team building, excellent communication, and critical thinking," said Matthew DeMar, an Allocation Analyst. "Since joining the TJX family, I have observed that veterans and all of our Associates are a top priority."

“At TJX, we have great respect for the brave men and women who risk their lives to keep our country safe, and for that, we say thank you. We recognize the many sacrifices they, and their families, have made, and we welcome them to the TJX family.”
