I want each of you to know how much I personally and, on behalf of the Company, regret any difficulties you may have experienced as a result of the sophisticated criminal attack(s) on our computer system in 2005 and 2006. Importantly, we truly appreciate that you have continued to place your trust in us with your loyalty and patronage. We are pleased that charges have been brought against the individuals allegedly responsible for the TJX computer intrusion(s), as well as breaches at many other major retailers. Since first learning of the intrusion(s), we have worked very closely with law enforcement authorities as they conducted an extensive international investigation of this complex crime. We thank both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Justice for making the investigation and prosecution of cyber crime a top priority. We remain committed to providing our customers a safe shopping environment as you shop for great values, fashion and brands in our stores. TJX has worked diligently with some of the world’s best computer security firms to further enhance our computer security. To that end, TJX has been certified by a qualified U.S. payment card industry assessor as fully compliant with all Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards in advance of many other retailers.
